devil's food cake

Last weekend we started to write about food and give some (hopefully) great recipes in an Icelandic newspaper. We decided to celebrate with a family favourite, devil's food cake, a recipe already published on Home and Delicious. You can find the recipe here as it is by the great Ina Garten, Barefoot Contessa. I have no urge to publish some recipes I feel I own, my calling is to tell all of you about some great food and recipes I feel you can like and love as much as we do.
Following was some story about the cake and the difference between devil's food cake and chocolate cake in general. Click here to get to know the difference. The image below shows some extra frosting we often use instead of the original one, as it is a simpler version. It's a classic by my mother in law.

Guðrún's frosting

2 1/2 cup icing sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
6 tbl soft butter
1 tbs cold coffee
1 tsp vanilla
5 tbs cream

Stir the dry ingredients together. Add the butter and the vanilla. Combine and use the cream to get the frosting soft and creamy in texture.
