Place of Business? ~ Home Sweet Home

An office needs to be efficient in order for the business to run smoothly. Drawers of file folders are labeled and organized in alphabetical order for convenience. Forms are filed away in boxes with the contents clearly written on each container. All this and more is done to ensure orderliness and ease for those who work there.

style: short version

Short version for this weekend. Cool outfits where the hemline is shorter than usual. When the heat is not melting us but we are still in shorts, we can dress in a military jacket, denim shirt or knitted sweater to keep the look but to keep warm too. But enjoy dressing in not to many layers these warmer weeks, enjoy summer and enjoy this weekend.

just a touch of colour needed

Most of the people want the shell of their home to be natural in colour. They decide to add colours to their home through accessories and flowers and that's great. But sometimes a little more flair is needed to get the influences you seek for. To take the next step can be pushing boundaries for many people but believe me, it's worth it. Look at these beautiful images and see what I'm talking about. To paint the front of the fireplace is such a great idea, look at the amazing rug in the bathroom, how wonderful this emerald green dining table looks...in otherwise almost colourless world.

food: broccoli salad with peaches and feta

A delicious recipe of broccoli, highly recommended to make. Always a pleasure finding some new ways for healthy greens. From the first issue of Home and Delicious. 

Broccoli Salad with Peaches and Feta

600 g broccoli, cut and trimmed into small trees

200 g feta cheese

150 g dried peaches, finely chopped

100 g hazelnuts, coarsely chopped

100 g spinach

10 cherry tomatoes, halved

Salad dressing:

juice of ½ lemon

1 tbsp honey dijon mustard

3 tbsp olive oil

salt and black pepper

Boil the broccoli in salt water for 5 minutes. Remove from the hot water, pour into a strainer, and rinse in cold water. Then combine all salad ingredients. Combine dressing ingredients and drizzle on the salad. Serve.

style: shorts not allowed in iceland?

It seems that shorts are not allowed in Iceland this summer. I felt the urge of showing you the weather forecast for today. I'm trying to stay super positive and that way I found the use for the shorts we all have...use it indoors and dress it with some cozy sweater! When I have gotten over all of this later today I will post something even more positive:) I promise.

Summer Selection and Slowing Down this Season…

Summer is upon us *dreamy sigh*… Thoughts of homemade ice cream, outdoor fun with the family and stacks of books fill my heart.  Here is a list of summer inspired activities that you may enjoy this season. 

Some recipes you may consider making is our avocado salsa and some angeled eggs for an outdoor picnic. What about a batch of deli-style refrigerator pickles to go with all those summer sandwiches? When the heat kicks in, you can blend up some frugal coffee beverages!

If mosquitoes are a problem in your area, consider making your own bug-spray.

If you plan on preserving, here is a list of recipes you may want to try.

Are you planning to slow down this season? I sure am! This weary pilgrim may post once a week but no more than that during these upcoming months… She has made lots of plans with her loved ones.

We do have another series prepared for this blog that we are very excited about! It will include pretty and practical printables for the pioneer-spirited souls… However, it is a *surprise* and will start in the fall :)

design: höst restaurant in copenhagen

The lovely restaurant Höst opened in Copenhagen last year and I really recommend a visit it if you are in the area. It's designed by the danish Norm Architects in collaboration with Danish designhouse Menu for Copenhagen restauranteurs Cofoco. The idea was to create a urban restaurant with romantic and rural references. A Scandinavian cosiness with minimalism using weathered materials such as recycled wooden pallets and lamps and lots of green plants and woollen blankets. In a way that manage to transform the feeling of eating outside on a a Scandinavian farmyard to a more minimalist indoor context. Aperfect blend! The designers also created a really nice collection of tableware for the restaurant.

home visit: mallorca, malene birger

As it's formally summer I like to publish images of true summer houses. This one is on Mallorca and owned by the Danish fashion designer Malene Birger. Many of you know her work and style aesthetic that in my opinion she masters really well in all her work; fashion design, art work and renovating and making homes. She has been keen on showing her homes publicly, which is great for all of us enjoying the beauty, and now we can admire her summer home, I have never seen images of before. Actually it's for sale, for all of you interested. It's located in the S'Arracó valley in Andratx, south-west Mallorca.

jökulsárlón / iceland – video

When driving the round trip in Iceland like we did, you can't drive past the amazing Jökulsárlón without stopping by and just enjoying the spectacular scenery. Gunnar did a short video there while this huge iceberg suddenly started moving, turning around and changed it's feature many times in few secs. monday's mix – on the road

Monday and back home after a road trip around Iceland. Great journey. Me and our girls drove from Reykjavík to Akureyri to spend time there with my parents living there. Then my photographer came from Denmark and we drove east. Stayed in the wonderful Breiðdalur where we experienced the nature. Went camping besides the glaciers, enjoyed great food and wine and the girls did the bbq. Now it's just washing and cleaning to have everything ready for the next ride!
