"Prepare thy work without,
and make it fit for thyself in the field;
and afterwards build thine house."
~ Proverbs 24:27
I thought it would be fun to do a series on our homestead which we have been living on for only eight months… Don't we all like to peek into other people's places? (Or am I the only curious one?) This is the first property we have ever owned. We rented and saved the first twelve years of our married life which led to this 25 acre prairie farm. To purchase land is one thing but money to embellish it when you have a homestead is a whole other subject. We bought with the above Proverb in mind. Our goal for the house itself was that all we would do was paint the interior to make it livable and begin focusing on an income (per the Proverb we would be building our barn first, so to speak).
So, the following posts will include pictures of our old farm house which has no closets and practically no cupboards and this is what we did with a budget of almost zero… Perhaps you can glean some ideas, if anything, on living in small spaces. Like I had mentioned in an earlier post, we traded a smaller house (1,200 square feet) for a larger amount of land and are glad we did.
