Back to School Encouragement

The Village School by Ferdinand de Braekeleer
Some thoughts for the new homeschool year…
First of all, have no fear and be of good cheer!

It can't be as bad as the woman above has it.
Honestly, do you have a strange man dropping fruit
from the window into your classroom?

The Teacher by Theodore Bernhard De Heuve

At least you don't have that many students in your home
OF THE SAME AGE…
but aren't they adorable, just the same?

and

Thirdly,
you do not have to be perfect this year,
just perfectly willing

The Teacher by Chardin

The Teacher

Lord, who am I to teach the way
To little children day by day,
So prone myself to go astray?

I teach them KNOWLEDGE, but I know
How faint they flicker and how low
The candles of my knowledge glow.

I teach them POWER to will and do,
But only now to learn anew
My own great weakness through and through.

I teach them LOVE for all mankind
And all God's creatures, but I find
My love comes lagging far behind.

Lord, if their guide I still must be,
Oh let the little children see
The teacher leaning hard on Thee.

The Village School by Alfred Rankley

And last, but most important,
start each day with this and
you will not be alone in your endeavors…

"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
~ Deuteronomy 6:6-7
